On to the 135th running of the Preakness Stakes. Will Super Saver be the first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed accomplished this elusive feat in 1978 - more than 30 years ago..!!!!

Second Triple Crown race is over and I'm still looking for a winner... My Preakness pick - Yawanna Twist, raced gamely and courageously, but, Lookin At Lucky was just too good... Not only did I not pick the winner, but, First Dude my throw-out horse ran a game race and finished second......  - $508.00

Well, on to the Belmont Stakes .......

Are Post Positions important in the Preakness Stakes? Here are the Top-4 Finish Post Positions in the Preakness Stakes since 1991.  Post Positions 2, 5, and 14 have not won any races since 1991...!!!  Post Position 14 was present only twice over the course of the last 19 years.....

Below are depicted the "In The Top-4" Post Position from 1991 - 2009. Post Position number 7 (This years Lookin At Lucky) has been in the superfecta 9 times (47%), in the trifecta 5 times (26%), in the exacta 4 times (21%), and has won twice (10.5%)..The post positions that have produced the most winners are 4 (This years Northern Giant), and 6 (This years Jackson Bend) with 4 winners respectively...
